Investing in Communities: Our Digital Learning Day in Northumberland
“A really great and insightful day - using the tools isn’t as hard as I first thought. Really worth coming to.”
Our second Digital Learning Day took place in Newbiggin last month, supported by our partner Thriving Together Northumberland. The Digital Voice team shared their skills with people working in voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations so that they can go on to better support their user groups digitally.
“We know from research that the North East is still trailing behind other areas of the UK in terms of digital skills; we can do something about that. The day is also a great opportunity to network with other organisations in the sector.”
- Julie Nicholson, Managing Director, Digital Voice
Our team delivered a wide range of sessions including Simple Digital Content Creation, Creative Community Consultation and Introduction to web and social media management, as well as drop-ins on digital storytelling, digital inclusion and engaging reluctant digital learners. All delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment. Here’s some of the feedback:
“Well organised, interactive, professional, relevant skill imparted. Relaxed and fun.
Networking and learning from others.
Seeing how easy it is to film and use the tools to create information.
Using Capcut and Canva is something that I can use in my current role.
Canva is revolutionary and will help me go into the digital age.
Very inclusive and really desensitising towards the fear of using technology in this way.”
The true impact will be felt when our participants take their new skills back into their settings where we estimate up to 2500 will benefit over the coming years.
Thanks to everyone who came and our wonderful hosts at Newbiggin Sports and Community Hub.
And if that’s whetted your appetite, we’re doing it all again on 11th February 2025 at One Strawberry Place, Newcastle.
