Powered by People: A year in the life of Digital Voice
It’s been a pretty good year and our busiest to date here at Digital Voice HQ.
We’ve delivered multiple digital projects across all of our different strands, developed new programmes using AI creatively, we’ve worked with thousands of people across the North East, won several awards and were invited to Parliament. Behind all of this is a brilliant team of people who each bring creativity, innovation and care to each project; I caught up with them before we broke up for Christmas to see what their personal highlights have been (an Unwrapped of sorts, only involving less algorithms).
Jan talked about The Honest Truth, a DigitalMe made with the Recovery Church in Newcastle:
“The room was absolutely packed in support of these people who had gone through such hard times, but who were so brave to tell their stories and show the amazingly creative work they had produced about their experiences. So powerful and moving, and just showed how valuable and humanising creative work can be.”
For Alison it was a GeoStories highlight:
“When I think back to this year I'll probably remember most working on the Castleside GeoStories project - I really enjoyed getting to know the community sharing their stories, and working with the young people to bring it to life - I'm really proud of that work.”
Chanise, Rhys, Susan and Julie had a highlight in common:
“Definitely DreamIt it was lovely to merge both the jobs I love for something that impressive.”
“Watching the award winning DreamIt film with my two sisters who were involved in the project.
“I was so inspired by these young girls and their ambition for the future - so creative!”
“Winning the Best of AI Award [Prolific North Tech Awards 24] for all the hard work that has gone into that strand of work.”
Ben enjoyed the variety offered by one of our film-making projects:
“Working on the LWIG films was a blast, whether it was sound recording, editing, or actually getting behind the camera, I had a lot of fun on those projects.”
For Laura it was a chance to co-create on our ambitious Decision Aid animated film:
“So impressed at how we managed to get so many of the focus groups ideas into the work, and getting a script together that allowed people to understand a complex academic idea.”
As well as the real awards we received this year, I asked the team what fictional awards they would give to Digital Voice, and the results are in!
